Patrick Jacobsen - President/DCYHA Ice Scheduler

"A good hockey player plays where the puck is.  A great hockey player plays where the puck is going to be."  -Wayne Gretzky.

Patrick grew up in Park City UT.  He was raised on the slopes, skiing and snowboarding.  The outdoors are a huge part of his life.  He did not have a ice hockey rink near by, so he participated in the next closet thing, roller hockey!  He played during the summer months at what used to be called Park West Resort.  That is where his interest in ice hockey began.
Patrick graduated from Park City High School in 2001.  He then went to Salt Lake Community College and graduated with an Associates Degree.  He then took that degree to Westminster College and graduated from there in 2011 with a Bachelors in Business.

He has shared his love of the sport with his 2 sons, both of which play at Davis and have, since they started at the 8U (mite) level.  His older son, Caden will be a 12U player and his younger son, Gabriel will be a 10U player this coming 2018-2019 season.  He has been coaching both his sons since they started.  He is a CEP level 3 certified coach and plans on getting his level 4 this coming season.

Patrick loves what this sport brings to the youth, the parents, the coaches and all who are involved.  There is no other sport out there like it!  It takes a lot of effort from everyone for the season to run smoothly and he is excited to be apart of these kids growth.  Watching the same kids grow and adapt year after year brings such joy to him.

Through 2024-2025 Season

Mandi Rowell - Vice President

My name is Mandi and I am the mom of two boys that play for DC Wind.

We have been with DCYHA for six years now and I have really enjoyed watching my oldest grow into a passionate hockey player. His dedication to the sport has given me the desire to volunteer and help this association become a place where he can enjoy and excel at hockey.

Our family has become more involved over the last couple years by being volunteers, team managers, and coaches.

This year I would love to volunteer for this organization as a member of the board. I believe that establishing a bond with kids at a young age will help this organization to grow at every level of competition. I also believe that establishing relationships with parents and keeping open and consistent communication is key to helping this organization thrive. I would be honored to share my ideas about keeping open communications and increasing opportunities to help kids develop skills, grow in, and learn the sport of hockey.

Through 2024-2025 Season

Mark Turner - DCYHA Secretary

Born and raised in Davis County, Mark spent a lot of his time as a teen rollerblading and playing roller hockey.  His love of rollerblading paved the way for him to transition to ice hockey.  Playing for the team while attending Viewmont High School, Mark fell in love with the game.  He cultivated this love of hockey by spending those three years working at the South Davis “Bubble” Rec Center ice rink, just to be able to spend as much time as possible skating, and contributing to the upkeep of the ice.  When not working, he and his hockey buddies passed the time exploring the city on their rollerblades.

After graduating from Viewmont, and serving an LDS mission, Mark attended and graduated from the University of Utah. During college Mark continued to play Hockey in the local rec leagues and drop-in sessions at the South Davis “Bubble” Rec Center.  Mark's hockey coaching career began as an assistant coach for Viewmont hockey from 2004-2006.

With each different sport that his children explore – including soccer, basketball, baseball, and flag football – so goes the exploration of coaching.  Mark is a Level 3 USA hockey coach.  He enjoys sharing his love of hockey with his family; his sons play for DCYHA, Laird (14U), Calvin (10U), and Rocco (8U); his wife Trisha and daughter Sloan support the passion for hockey off of the ice.

Mark is thrilled to be a part of the DCYHA program and strives to contribute to this already great organization. Mark is excited to be on the Board and serve his first year as the Secretary.

David Todd - Board of Directors

I grew up in Centerville and Bountiful and have played hockey in Davis County since I was young.  I spent a lot of my youth at the Bountiful Bubble swimming, ice skating and playing hockey. I
went to Viewmont High for a short time and then transferred to Bountiful High where I graduated.

I played hockey for both the Vikings and the Braves and loved the friends I made with the coaches and players at each school. I love that I get to see a lot of those same folks again that are still involved with
hockey in Davis County.

I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree and law degree from the University of Utah and have been practicing law for 10 years.  My wife, Kathryn, and I have 4 awesome kids.  My 3 boys love hockey and
my daughter and wife love horses.  Lucky for me I love horses and hockey!

Last year I had the opportunity of coaching for DC Wind on my 12-year-old son’s team. I’ve coached my kids in baseball, soccer and basketball, but nothing compares to hockey. I love the game. I
love working with the kids and seeing them become better players, teammates, and people. It was a great experience being involved with DCYHA last year as a coach and a player’s dad, and I look forward to
being involved for many years to come.

Elizabeth O'Rourke - DCYHA Registrar & Board of Directors

Elizabeth O’Rourke grew up in a military family, moving around across the country and overseas throughout her childhood.
As a child she played many different sports but found a passion for Field Hockey.  She played field hockey during high school and college and eventually began coaching and refereeing for local for youth leagues.
Elizabeth joined the Navy and met her husband Brian, who was in the Marines.  Elizabeth and her family spent 8 years living in Arizona (4 years in Yuma and 4 in Phoenix).  It was at that time, her eldest son Sean discovered the Arizona Coyotes and decided he wanted to be a hockey goalie.
Sean began playing hockey in AZ as a mini-mite and after his first season the family moved to Latyon UT, and joined the DCYHA organization.
Sean is going on his fourth season with the organization, and Matthew (2nd son) is beginning his first season as a mite.  In addition to her two sons, Elizabeth has a beautiful daughter Allison.  Allison is her brothers’ biggest fan and has likely spent more time watching hockey than any other 1 year old (but she wouldn’t have it any other way).
Elizabeth earned her BA in Humanities with a minor in Human Resources Management, an MBA with an emphasis in Human Resources Management and is a SHRM certified HR professional. Currently she works at PalAmerican Security where she leads their human resources department. She is looking forward to applying her skills gleaned personally and professionally to better the DCYHA organization.

Jessica Stell - Board of Directors & Director of Team Managers

Hello! My name is Jessica Stell and I would love a chance to serve on the DCYHA board as a voting member.

We are wrapping up our 7th season with DCYHA. My 14U, Abigail, has played since she was a first year 8U. I also have a 10U, Brigham, who has been around for 6 years. I have spent the last 7 years volunteering in anyway I can to help all the kids at DCYHA.

I have served on the board, been a team manager every year, been a director of team managers, organized pictures, ran the clock more times than I can count, distributed equipment for Try Hockey for Free and Learn to Play, helped run Iron Cup, and this season I even started coaching when we needed more coaches at 10U. Anywhere the organization or individuals have needed help, I’ve been there.

I am a big believer that DCYHA is a wonderful place for new kids to learn hockey, and a place our kids who have been around for a while can grow and excel. I would love to have the chance to pave more ways for those kids wanting to continue to play for DC Wind to learn and grow. I want all kids to feel welcome and find their place in this wonderful game.  I believe we can do this by making sure we have, knowledgeable team managers,  passionate knowledgeable coaches in place, dryland sessions, and of course great practices.

I believe the board needs to be accountable for spending funds to benefit the players and our organization.

As a board member, I will fight to give our kids the best experience and make sure everyone has a chance to grow and improve their skill sets.

I believe my voice and vote will always benefit the DCYHA players.

Through 2025-2026 Season

Rich Lucy - Coaching Director

Rich Lucy is a lifelong hockey player.  With a dad from Boston, hockey was the only youth sports Rich played in an organized manner.  His youth hockey culminated in two high school state championships.  Rich currently plays, coaches, and is also an official.

Rich is a passionate hockey recruiter.   Rich invites every child/parent at the rink to play, and once playing, Rich won’t see you in the stands too many times before you’re invited to coach.

Rich is Level 5 USA Hockey coach.  He is an expert in USA Hockey’s American Development Model (ADM), long-term athlete development (LTAD), and windows of trainability.  Rich has coached at multiple age levels, both recreationally and competitively, and had success at each.  Rich believes, however, that the ultimate success of coaching is determined by how many of the children continue to play.  Yearly success is determined by how many play the following year, and overall success is determined by how many play hockey into adulthood, regardless of the skill level.

At an organizational level, Rich has prior held several positions.  Rich has served as SafeSport Director, Learn to Play Director, Webmaster, Tournament (Iron Cup) Committee Member, Bylaws Committee Member, and Utah Recreational Hockey League Representative.

Rich has two boys in the DCYHA organization.  Zac plays 14U and Nate 10U with the Wind.   Rich's oldest son, Richie, plays competitive tier hockey locally.  Professionally, Rich is an eCommerce Director for an auto group.

Heston Young - DCYHA Treasurer

I am applying for a position on the DCYHA Board of Directors.  I would like the opportunity to serve on the board and help make the youth hockey environment a positive one for the kids and the parents.  Hockey helped bring me structure in High School and I wish I would have found it earlier than my junior year.

Here are a few things you should know about me:

I am married and have 3 children (16 girl, 12 boy, and 10 girl).  My son, Rockwell currently plays at DCYHA.  We live in Bountiful and have been here for 19 years.

I am employed with the Young Automotive Group as the Finance Director.  In a nut shell of what that is, I help train the group's finance managers on various aspects of their job.  My hours are fairly normal (9:00am - 6:00pm during the week).  So, I would have time available to serve on the board.

I mentioned that I played hockey in high school.  I currently play in the Bountiful Senior league.  I do enjoy most other sports as well.  My family and I chase my son around during baseball season as he plays comp baseball.

I am in training to get my pilots license and I love to talk about anything involving airplanes.

Thank you,

Through 2023-2024 Season

Brian Nelson - Former DCYHA Treasurer - Thank You Brian for all your years of service!

We found Davis Youth Hockey summer of 2014 and have fallen in love with the organization and all it provides our son.  He is a first-year Squirt and looks forward to many more years of playing.

So being a hockey-dad, I thought I'd get involved where and when I could. I have experience in coaching youth sports (football and baseball); however, hockey has become my new passion. Over the years, I have played street and floor hockey (our intramural floor hockey team at BYU were '92 champions and runner-up in 1993 --boy that ages me), but I am excited to get my novice skills better formed on the ice!

Professionally, I am a Business Analyst with the State of Utah. I have an MBA from Weber State and am eager to help this organization in any capacity that I can. My wife, Patricia, daughter Madeleine and son Luke all have been bitten by the hockey bug.

Through 2023

Karyn Baxter - Registrar till 2021 - Thank You Karyn for all your years of service!

Karyn has been involved with DCYHA since her boys began playing hockey in 2008.  The Mites coaches convinced her to be the manager, promising "it's just treats!".  (It's not just treats, but thanks Peter!)

Karyn had three boys playing in DCYHA in one year, a Bantam, a Squirt, and a Mini-Mite.  Her oldest son "graduated" from DCYHA, her middle son is currently playing with the Eagles, and her youngest is a second year PeeWee.  Years of carting boys to rinks has really clarified what hockey brings to the kids:  the benefits of ongoing friendships and support from teammates, the lessons of working hard for success (or dealing with sometimes falling short), the positive impact  of many amazing coaches, and the ability to play in a rec sports environment where everyone is welcomed and encouraged.  With all the benefits, it's important to keep it going!  And, oh boy, does Lincoln have a long way to go.  [I had to keep that in there, Karyn - Rich]

On a side note, she also has an amazing daughter, but nearly everyone at hockey says:  I didn't know you had a daughter!  Hahahaha
Appointed.
