General Information
For any questions regarding the Davis County Youth Hockey Association (DCYHA) 6U Division, please contact us using the email link at the right or locating the division director under the DC Wind Teams tab at the top.

The 2024-2025 DCYHA 6U Division is open to boys and girls with birth years after 2018.  There is no minimum age but children are expected to be able to stand up from a fallen position, on ice, in full hockey gear.

Registration
To register, click on the green "Register Here" button on the right of this page and follow the instructions.  All players must be registered before they will be allowed on the ice.  This policy is STRICTLY ENFORCED.

Annual Fee
The fee for the 6U 2024-2025 season is $165.  USA Hockey membership registration is required prior to registration. Players born in 2018 and later do not pay a USA Hockey membership fee but are required to register with USA Hockey at www.usahockeyregistration.com (this link is also provided during the registration process).

Team Game Jerseys/Socks
Mini-mites are not required to purchase jerseys/socks but purchasing the home red jersey is highly recommended, and purchasing both is not discouraged.  The jerseys fit most players for several years.  Jerseys cost $55 each.  Socks are $10/pair, and while encouraged are not required.  Jersey and sock orders can be placed during online the registration process.

Season
The season starts approximately in mid-September or early October, and typically runs through the first of March.  Players in the 6U Division get one hour of ice time per week at practice, with additional ice time at Saturday for games/scrimmages as often as possible.  The majority of games played will be at the South Davis Recreation Center.  6U practice is on most Fridays at 5:40pm with the 8U Division players.  Players are split into similar skill level for maximum learning, safety, and enjoyment.  

Schedules for both practices and games will be posted as far in advance as possible.  All schedules will be available on the team page on the DCYHA website.  Please check the site routinely for possible schedule changes that may occur throughout the season.  Team Managers will do their best to notify teams via email/phone as necessary.

Cross Ice Games
DCYHA follows the American Development Model (ADM).  Under the ADM, 6U play cross-ice games.  Cross-ice games have been found to be very effective for teaching hockey skill to 6U age players.  The kids also enjoy more puck touches, more passing, more shooting, more goals.  6U play with small, mini-mite sized goals and no goalies.

Coaching
If you are interested in coaching the 6U division, please complete the coaching registration found on the main registration page.  Please contact the DCYHA Coaching Director with any questions.  All coaches must go through background screening, USA Hockey Safe Sport Training, USA Hockey Coaching Certification and have completed the  8U age-specific coaching module through USA Hockey, Inc.  6U coaches may coach with an expired certification of any level, however, the 8U age-specific module must be completed.
