Coaching & Volunteer Registration

THANK YOU FOR VOLUNTEERING

2023-2024 SEASON VOLUNTEER INFORMATION & LINKS ARE NOW AVAILABLE

Whether offering your time to coach, manage a team or serve as a board member, all DCYHA volunteers must complete registration and training to serve in a volunteer capacity.

Coaches have the greatest number of trainings to complete to achieve compliance as noted below. DCYHA Coach and Volunteer registration allows the administration to collect contact information to facilitate efficient communication.

Mandatory screening and training elevates DCYHA to the standards that are expected of the highest quality youth recreation programs. To maintain good standing with USA Hockey and Utah Amateur Hockey Association we ask all volunteers for their cooperation in completing the steps below.

DCYHA is 100% volunteer driven and we greatly appreciate all of the hours that are dedicated to the success of the DCYHA hockey program.

Thank you for completing the registration and trainings prior to the season start date.  If you have not yet completed the requirements, please note that you will not be allowed to be on the ice for any practices, so we encourage you to get started early!

Steps for All DCYHA Volunteers (Managers, Board Members, Appointed Positions, etc.)

Volunteers should complete the following registrations and trainings:
Use the links below to launch the online access to each. If you  will have contact with youth on or off the ice, then you should complete all the registrations and trainings below.  This includes team managers, and other regular ongoing volunteers. They are free for non-coach volunteers.  All of the following MUST be completed prior to any volunteer acting in an official position which puts him/her in contact with the youth.  (These are not required for running the clock, being scorekeeper, or manning the penalty box during games.) Use the links found below on this page to get started.

  • USA Hockey Registration - required annually
  • Background Screening - required annually (after this year)*
  • SafeSport Online Training - refresher required annually
  • DCYHA Coach/Volunteer Registration

*If you do a background screening with UAHA and you did one last year, you will be billed for the screening cost NOT the organization (as per UAHA rules).  Screenings are not required for those who completed one with UAHA for the 2019-20 Season, with some exceptions.  PLEASE do not complete your background screening if you have any questions.  Complete the registration, and contact Karyn Baxter.

Coaches have additional training obligations as noted further below.  Please note that the rules for completion date for coach training requirements have changed.  See below for more information.

USA Hockey Registration

All coaches, team managers, and volunteers must be registered with USA Hockey

USA Hockey Background Screening

All volunteers must clear background screening prior to be allowed to participate as a DCYHA coach, volunteer or administrator. Background screenings are now done through USA Hockey and not UAHA.

USA Hockey Safesport Training

All coaches, team managers, and volunteers must complete Safesport training every year. Please read the information below.

SafeSport Information for 2023 - 2024

You MUST register via the USA Hockey webpage, or the SafeSport completion is not saved to the database, and you cannot be "cleared" for work with the kiddos.

If you have not completed this full training in the past, please note that upon completion, you will be issued a certificate of completion.  Please make sure that you have actually finished - it has been reported to take approximately 3 hours.

If you have completed the full training via the USA Hockey SafeSport platform, you will only need to do a refresher training course, which is much less intensive.

Everyone must complete the refresher annually.
