General Information
The 2024-2025 DCYHA 12U Division is open to boys and girls with birth years 2012 and 2013.

Registration
To register, click on the registration link on the right of this page and follow the instructions.  All players must be registered before they will be allowed on the ice.  This policy is STRICTLY ENFORCED.

Annual Fee
The fee for the 12U 2024-2025 Season has is $450 per player.  A USA Hockey member ship is required to participate at DCYHA.  There is a separate fee of approximately $56 for USA Hockey.  There may be additional costs for optional tournaments that the coaches and players choose to participate in.

Jerseys/Socks
12U division players are required to have both home and away jerseys, and one pair of socks.  Jerseys cost $55 each, and socks are $10 per pair.  Please note that jerseys need only be reordered in future years if your child outgrows his/her jersey, as their number will remain the same.  Orders for jerseys and socks can be made during the online registration process.

Selection of Teams
After a few practices, the coaches will meet to select the teams.  As per the new changes implemented by UAHA (see main registration page), teams will now be split into groups of similar ability.  The creation of a D1 and a D2 division will create some changes in how teams are formed.  

Season
The season starts approximately mid-September or early October, and typically ends the first week in March. It consists of approximately 40 hours of total ice time.  This will average out to approximately two hours of ice time per week.  12U practice most Wednesdays at 6:30pm and games are on Saturdays. 

Schedules for both practices and games will be posted as far in advance as possible.  All schedules will be available on the team page on this website.  Please check the site routinely for possible schedule changes that may occur throughout the season.  Team Managers will do their best to notify teams via email/phone as necessary.

Once teams are selected, the head coach will ask for a parent to volunteer as a Team Manager.  The Team Manager will assist the coach with the following:  paperwork, schedules, signups (tournaments, treats), etc.  Team Managers will be trained by the DCYHA Director of Team Managers once the season is underway.

Goalies
12U teams may have dedicated goalies.  If a team does not have a dedicated goalie, coaches are expected to rotate the position among interested players.  Please notify the 12U Division Director or DCYHA Coaching Director if your son/daughter is interested in playing goalie.

Coaching
If you are interested in coaching at the 12U division, please complete the coaching registration found on the main registration page.  If you have any questions, please contact the  DCYHA Coaching Director.  All coaches must go through background screening, hockey module training and safety training.  12U Coaches must also be USA Hockey certified and have completed the 12U age-specific module.
